SOD students to give Dental Grand Rounds presentations

dentistry_icon.jpgThree fourth-year dental students will give the School of Dentistry's Dental Grand Rounds presentation at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, in classroom R153 (lower amphitheatre).

Mimi Hoang will present "Restoring Fractured Teeth with Orthodontic Extrusion;" Devin Stewart will present "Regeneration of an Intrabony Osseous Defect Using Bone Graft;" and Caleb Hardman will present "A Comparison of Micro Arc Oxidation on Series of Titanium Implant Alloys."

Trauma fellow to illuminate resident research perspective

Dr. Kristen Carter, trauma research fellow in the UMMC Department of Surgery, will give the Department of Surgery Grand Rounds presentation, "Trauma Care at UMMC: The Resident Research Perspective," from 8-9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, in room CW 106 of the Classroom Wing.

Pastoral services director to launch compassionate series

Doris Whitaker, UMMC director of pastoral services, will give the first of a three-part Everyday Wellness series, "Where it Begins: Self-compassion," at noon on Wednesday, April 10, in classroom 6A.

Whitaker also will present "Compassion for Me, Compassion for You" at noon on Wednesday, April 17, and "Compassion in Health Care" at noon on Wednesday, April 24. 

The series will provide insight about what compassion really is and how to integrate it into one's life and practice.
